What to expect
From the cannula to feeling yourself again — here's how the session goes.
Getting started
After a quick physician assessment, your nurse checks your vitals and places a fine cannula — it feels like a standard injection.
During the drip
You relax while the formula infuses directly into your bloodstream at full potency.
Afterwards
The cannula comes out and you carry on with your day — no downtime.
How often
Your nurse advises on frequency based on your goals and how you respond.
Ready when you are — book your Vitamin C Booster
Pick a time or start below — choose IV Infusion Therapy and a DHA-licensed nurse will be at your door, usually within 45 minutes.
How to prepare
Eat normally and arrive hydrated; no fasting is needed. Wear sleeves that roll up easily. The infusion is given at a steady, controlled rate rather than pushed — high-dose vitamin C delivered too quickly causes nausea and light-headedness. Tell your nurse straight away if you feel warm or dizzy so the rate can be eased back rather than the session stopped.
Who this drip is for
Chosen by people wanting a concentrated vitamin C session for general wellness, skin support or recovery after a demanding stretch. For healthy adults. It is not suitable with kidney disease, a history of kidney stones, or G6PD deficiency, and our doctor checks for these before your first infusion. It is a nutritional top-up, not a treatment for any medical condition.
Everything you need to know about the Vitamin C Booster
This potent infusion delivers a concentrated dose of vitamin C to help fight illness, boost energy, and protect your body from oxidative stress.
Vitamin C is not stored in fat the way vitamin D is, and the body cannot manufacture it at all. What it does instead is concentrate it, pulling it into particular tissues and holding it there at levels many times higher than the blood. Those tissue stores, rather than the blood level, are what a course of infusions is aimed at.
Where vitamin C is actually held
Plasma is the transport medium, not the destination. The adrenal glands hold the highest intracellular concentration of vitamin C of any organ in the body. White blood cells, the lens of the eye and brain tissue all maintain internal levels far above circulating ones, and they do it by actively pumping ascorbate in against a gradient. When the circulating supply is chronically thin, these high-priority tissues take what they need first, and lower-priority ones — skin, cartilage, general connective tissue — are left further behind.
Why the blood level does not stay up
The kidney regulates ascorbate tightly. Above a certain plasma concentration it stops reabsorbing what passes through and excretes the surplus, so a single infusion produces a sharp peak that comes back down over the following days. That peak is not wasted — it is the window during which tissue uptake happens — but uptake is gradual, and one window fills less than people assume. Repeated exposure raises the pool again before the previous uptake has been spent, which is what allows stores to build rather than simply reset.
The collagen chemistry, specifically
Two enzymes, prolyl hydroxylase and lysyl hydroxylase, modify collagen strands so they can wind into the stable triple helix that gives skin, blood vessels, gums and cartilage their tensile strength. Both require vitamin C as a cofactor and neither works properly without it. At the extreme this produces scurvy. Well short of that, the effect is subtler: collagen made more slowly and holding together less well, which shows up in healing rate and in tissue under constant repair demand.
It works as a network, not on its own
Vitamin C's most useful antioxidant role is arguably not the radicals it neutralises directly, but the ones it allows other molecules to handle. Once glutathione or vitamin E has quenched a radical it is left oxidised and inactive; vitamin C donates the electron that returns it to service. A well-supplied vitamin C pool therefore extends the working life of the whole antioxidant system, which is a reason to have it in reserve rather than at the margin.
Who should not have a high-dose course
High-dose intravenous vitamin C is not appropriate for everyone. People with G6PD deficiency should not receive it, and screening for that is the standard precaution before a high-dose protocol. It is also avoided or modified in significant kidney impairment and in anyone with a history of calcium oxalate stones, since ascorbate is partly metabolised to oxalate. Iron overload conditions such as haemochromatosis are a further reason to take a different route. Our doctor goes through your history and current medication before the first session, which a DHA-licensed nurse then delivers at your home, hotel or office.
