ISO 15189Explore the included tests and biomarkers
Select a profile or test to see its included components and a plain-language explanation. Related measurements are grouped together for easier reading.
A complete blood count examines red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. The listed measurements include cell numbers and indices describing red-cell size and haemoglobin content, together with the white-cell differential. These results help clinicians assess anaemia, infection and blood-cell disorders. Abnormal values are interpreted together and alongside symptoms; a blood count does not identify a diagnosis by itself.
Fasting glucose measures blood sugar after the prescribed fasting period. Random glucose measures blood sugar at the time the sample is collected. HbA1c reflects average blood glucose over approximately the previous two to three months. Random insulin is interpreted with the sampling time, recent food intake and glucose level. C-peptide helps assess the insulin made by the body. The components listed are the tests included in this package. Results are interpreted together, and repeat or additional testing may be needed to establish a diagnosis.
The listed cholesterol fractions and triglycerides describe the fats carried in your blood. Any ratios or non-HDL values shown are related calculated results, not additional infections or diseases being tested. The profile contributes to cardiovascular risk assessment alongside age, blood pressure, smoking, diabetes and other factors. It does not show whether an artery is blocked.
CK is an enzyme found mainly in muscle. Levels can rise with muscle injury or strenuous exercise; the result does not identify the cause on its own.
These kidney-related measurements assess waste products and, where listed, associated calculated values and minerals. Creatinine and eGFR help assess filtration; urea-related values can also be influenced by hydration and protein intake. The report’s reference ranges and changes over time matter. A single abnormal result does not establish chronic kidney disease, and results should be interpreted with the clinical history.
This profile brings together the liver-related enzymes, bilirubin fractions and protein measurements listed here. Enzyme results can signal tissue irritation, while bilirubin and proteins provide different information about processing and synthetic function. Some markers also originate outside the liver. Clinicians interpret the pattern rather than any single number; abnormal results do not, on their own, establish the cause.
TSH is a pituitary hormone that regulates the thyroid gland. Free T4 measures the unbound fraction of thyroxine, a thyroid hormone. Free T3 measures the unbound fraction of triiodothyronine, a thyroid hormone. The listed thyroid measurements are interpreted together and with symptoms, medicines and the laboratory’s reference ranges.
Rheumatoid factor is an antibody measurement used when evaluating possible autoimmune disease. A positive result is not specific to rheumatoid arthritis, and a negative result does not exclude it.
This measurement checks cortisol in a sample collected at the stated time. Cortisol is an adrenal hormone involved in metabolism and the stress response; the time of collection, medicines and clinical context affect interpretation.

How to prepare
Fast for eight to ten hours before the sample: water only, no food, juice or milk in coffee. Continue your usual medication unless your doctor says otherwise. Avoid alcohol for twenty-four hours beforehand, and skip a hard workout on the morning — both shift the glucose, insulin and lipid readings that this panel is built around.
Who should take this test
For anyone addressing weight seriously and wanting to know what sits underneath it — fifty-seven markers spanning insulin resistance, thyroid, hormones, liver and lipids. Particularly useful before starting a weight-loss programme or medication, since it identifies treatable causes such as thyroid or insulin problems rather than assuming willpower is the issue. It also gives a baseline to measure genuine progress against.

Weight is not one mechanism, and it is not a measure of effort. This panel sets out to answer a narrower and more useful question: whether something measurable in your blood — insulin handling, thyroid output, cortisol, liver, lipids — forms part of the picture, and what that should change about the plan your doctor builds with you.
What this panel measures, and what it does not
It is a diagnostic panel, not a programme. It does not measure body composition, it cannot predict how your weight will respond to anything, and no result on it prescribes a diet.
What it does is describe metabolic function: how your body is handling glucose, what your thyroid is producing, how your liver and kidneys are coping, and where your lipids sit. Those findings change what a sensible plan looks like, and they identify the situations where something medical needs treating in its own right first.
Insulin and C-peptide: the same question asked twice
Insulin and C-peptide are released by the pancreas in equal quantities, split from the same precursor molecule. C-peptide is cleared more slowly and is not removed by the liver on its first pass, so it gives a steadier picture of what your own pancreas is actually producing — and unlike insulin, it is unaffected by insulin given as medication. Measured together, the two show not only how much insulin is circulating at that moment, but how hard the pancreas is working to supply it.
Why cortisol has to be read with the clock in mind
Cortisol follows a strong daily rhythm, highest shortly after waking and falling through the afternoon and evening, so a single value means very little without the time it was drawn. A figure that looks high at nine in the morning may be entirely ordinary; the same figure at six in the evening is not. Illness, disturbed sleep and acute stress all move it as well.
Treat it as a screening signal rather than an answer. A genuinely abnormal pattern is confirmed with dedicated timed testing, never on one random sample.
What the result changes in the conversation with your doctor
Two things, mostly. First, it separates factors that need medical treatment of their own — an underactive thyroid, established insulin resistance, a lipid abnormality — from the rest of the picture, so that whatever you do next is built on the right premise rather than an assumption.
Second, it establishes a safety baseline. Kidney function, liver function and muscle enzymes are the values that matter before certain medications are started or an intensive exercise programme begins, and knowing them beforehand is simply safer than discovering them later.
Two markers that look out of place
Rheumatoid factor and creatine kinase are easy to overlook here. Joint pain and muscle symptoms in someone carrying extra weight are frequently attributed to the weight and left at that. Rheumatoid factor asks whether an inflammatory joint condition is contributing; creatine kinase asks the same of muscle, and is also the value monitored when certain cholesterol medications cause muscle symptoms. Neither is diagnostic on its own, but both keep an alternative explanation on the table rather than assumed away.
