What to expect
From the cannula to feeling yourself again — here's how the session goes.
Getting started
After a quick physician assessment, your nurse checks your vitals and places a fine cannula — it feels like a standard injection.
During the drip
You relax while the formula infuses directly into your bloodstream at full potency.
Afterwards
The cannula comes out and you carry on with your day — no downtime.
How often
Your nurse advises on frequency based on your goals and how you respond.
Ready when you are — book your Hangover Recovery
Pick a time or start below — choose IV Infusion Therapy and a DHA-licensed nurse will be at your door, usually within 45 minutes.
How to prepare
Do not fast beforehand — eat something plain if your stomach will allow it, and start sipping water before the nurse arrives. Wear short or loose sleeves. If you have been vomiting, say so when you book: it changes what the doctor adds to the bag. Alcohol thins your veins' cooperation, so the cannula can take a moment longer than usual on a heavy morning.
Who this drip is for
For the morning after, when dehydration, headache and nausea are getting in the way of a working day. Suitable for most healthy adults. Tell our doctor if you take regular medication, have liver disease, or have been drinking heavily for several days rather than one night — sustained heavy drinking needs medical review, not a drip, and our team will refer you rather than infuse you.
Everything you need to know about the Hangover Recovery
Our Hangover Recovery IV Drip, expertly formulated to rehydrate, replenish essential vitamins and minerals, and ease hangover symptoms for a swift return to feeling your best.
The reason a hangover does not yield to a litre of water is that dehydration is only one of four things happening at once, and it is not the one doing most of the damage. That distinction is what a drip is actually for — it addresses the other three as well.
Acetaldehyde is the main event
The liver breaks alcohol down in two steps. The first converts it into acetaldehyde, a compound considerably more toxic than the alcohol it came from and the direct cause of the nausea, the flushing, the sweating and the headache that arrives with a pulse in it.
The second step converts acetaldehyde into acetate, which is harmless. That step is the bottleneck. It depends on glutathione and on several B vitamins, and both have been drawn down by the same night that created the acetaldehyde. When they run short, the toxic intermediate simply circulates for longer.
Why the B vitamins fall so far, so fast
Alcohol interferes with the absorption of thiamine, folate and vitamin B12 in the gut while simultaneously accelerating their loss through the kidneys. Few things deplete this group of nutrients as efficiently in a single night.
Thiamine matters most in the short term. The brain runs almost exclusively on glucose, and thiamine is the cofactor at the entry point of the pathway that converts glucose into usable energy. The fog, the clumsiness and the flatness of the next morning are better explained by that shortfall than by thirst.
The inflammatory layer that makes it feel like illness
Alcohol prompts the release of inflammatory signalling molecules, and the body responds to them much as it responds to a mild infection. That is why a bad morning after involves aching muscles, sensitivity to light and sound, and a general sense of being unwell rather than simply tired.
Understanding this part changes what a sensible intervention looks like. Fluid does nothing for it. Nutrients that support the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory side of the response do.
What the liver needs to finish the job
Cysteine, supplied here as N-acetylcysteine, is the raw material for rebuilding the glutathione the liver spent overnight — the same substrate used in hospital when the liver has to clear a toxic metabolite quickly.
Trimethylglycine supplies methyl groups to pathways that detoxification and liver-cell membrane repair both draw on heavily. Zinc is a cofactor for the very first step of alcohol breakdown, so a shortfall slows the entire pipeline, and magnesium is lost in quantity through alcohol's diuretic effect, taking muscle tension and headache with it.
Why it lands harder in this climate
Heat and dry air keep fluid loss running through the night, on top of the loss alcohol has already caused by suppressing the hormone that tells the kidneys to conserve water. Air conditioning removes humidity, and a late night indoors is drier than it feels.
The people who book this are usually working against a deadline of some kind: a visitor who cannot write off a day of a short trip, a meeting that will not move, a flight. The nurse comes to the room, a doctor reviews the case, and it is worth being clear about what it is — a recovery infusion for the aftermath, not protection bought in advance.

Written for Vesta Care patients in Dubai, using the laboratory's own panel definitions and reference ranges. Content is reviewed for clinical accuracy before publication and updated whenever the panel composition changes.
Independently reviewed for clinical accuracy: the biomarkers listed, what each one measures, the conditions it helps identify and the preparation advice were checked against current laboratory practice.
