Why should you choose Vesta Care if you have problems with your ears, nose, or throat?

Immediate GP Evaluation When You Need It Most

If your child has sinus pressure so bad that they can't sleep, severe throat discomfort that makes it hard to swallow, or a nosebleed that won't stop even after trying home remedies, it's not a good idea to wait until morning or go to a clinic. Our medical team can be at your house in 30 to 45 minutes after you call, giving medical care and examinations directly to your door. You could have to wait hours in discomfort at an emergency department, but with our doctor at home service, you can get a GP evaluation and treatment in the privacy and comfort of your own home. No matter where you are—in Emirates Livings dealing with persistent sinusitis symptoms, at a hotel in Downtown Dubai with acute tonsillitis, or at your office in Business Bay with a bothersome nosebleed—expert general practitioner care is always just a phone call away.

GP doctors who are trained and have a lot of expertise

Our doctors all have licenses from the Dubai Health Authority and have undergone a lot of training in treating common disorders with the ears, nose, and throat during their general practice school. We don't offer specific ENT services, but our doctors are quite good at diagnosing and treating problems including acute and chronic sinusitis, bacterial and viral tonsillitis, tinnitus evaluation and initial therapy, and controlling and treating epistaxis (nosebleed). Our general practitioners are adept at completing complete ENT exams, prescribing the proper drugs (including antibiotics when needed), alleviating symptoms efficiently, and determining out whether a patient needs to visit a specialist for surgeries, imaging, or more advanced treatment.

Full GP evaluation and care at home

We offer a lot more than just help with basic symptoms. Our home visit GP service includes a full medical history and symptom check, a thorough physical exam of the ears, nose, throat, and other related structures, monitoring of vital signs and a general health check, diagnostic tests to tell the difference between viral and bacterial infections, immediate treatment for acute symptoms and pain relief, management of prescription medications like antibiotics, decongestants, and pain relievers, home care instructions and follow-up planning, and coordination with ENT specialists when more advanced care or procedures are needed. We give people with sinusitis drugs to help with swelling and stuffiness and check to see whether they need antibiotics for a bacterial infection. We find out what form of tonsillitis a patient has and then provide them the correct care. We check into what might be causing your tinnitus and provide you some early treatment. If the problem keeps coming back, we set up an appointment with a specialist. When someone has a nosebleed, we act quickly to stop it and find out what might be causing it that needs more testing.

What You Should Know About Nosebleeds, Sinusitis, Tonsillitis, and Tinnitus

Sinusitis: Swelling of the Sinus Cavities

Sinusitis is when the sinuses, which are the empty areas surrounding your nose, cheeks, and eyes, get inflamed and swollen. These air-filled pockets usually create mucus that flows down into your nose.  But if they get clogged and filled with fluid, bacteria, viruses, or fungi can thrive there, which can cause an infection. Usually, acute sinusitis goes away in less than four weeks. It is generally caused by a cold or a virus. Some of the symptoms are pain or pressure in the face, especially around the eyes, forehead, and cheeks, that gets worse when you bend forward; thick yellow or green nasal discharge; nasal congestion; trouble breathing through the nose; a decreased sense of smell and taste; a cough that may get worse at night; ear pressure and fullness; a headache, especially in the forehead area; fatigue and general malaise; and sometimes fever and dental pain.

Tonsillitis is when your tonsils are infected or enlarged.

When the tonsils, which are two oval-shaped lymphoid tissue pads at the back of your throat that help fight infections, grow inflamed, you have tonsillitis. When germs or viruses get too strong for the tonsils to fight off, they swell up, turn red, and hurt.  The most prevalent kind is viral tonsillitis. Viruses that cause the cold and flu are to blame, and it normally goes away on its own in seven to 10 days with some help. To avoid difficulties, you need antibiotics to treat bacterial tonsillitis, which is usually caused by Streptococcus bacteria (strep throat). Some of the signs are a very sore throat that makes it hard or painful to swallow, red and swollen tonsils with white or yellow patches, tender and swollen lymph nodes in the neck, fever and chills, headache, a scratchy or muffled voice, bad breath, ear pain that comes from the throat, and in kids, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting.

When your ears ring or buzz, you have tinnitus.

Tinnitus is the sensation of sound when no external noise is present.  It can sound like ringing, buzzing, hissing, clicking, or roaring in one or both ears. It is not a sickness on its own, but it is a symptom that affects 15 to 20 percent of people, and older people are more prone to have it.  The phantom sounds can be loud or faint, high-pitched or low-pitched, and they can make it hard to sleep, focus, and enjoy life in some circumstances. Most cases of tinnitus are subjective, which means that only the individual who has it can hear it. During an exam, a doctor may be able to hear objective tinnitus. This kind of tinnitus is uncommon and is usually caused by difficulties with muscles or blood vessels.

How to deal with and comprehend nosebleeds (epistaxis)

When blood vessels in the lining of the nose burst, blood flows from one or both nostrils. A lot of people get them; more than sixty percent of people have had at least one nosebleed in their lifetime. Most nosebleeds happen in the front of the nose, and simple first aid typically stops them. Bleeding from the back of the nose is worse and may need medical attention. Some common causes are dry air, especially in Dubai's climate where there is air conditioning and low humidity; picking your nose or getting hurt; upper respiratory infections that make your nose hurt; allergies and blowing your nose a lot; structural problems like a deviated septum; blood-thinning drugs; high blood pressure; and bleeding disorders.

Our general practitioners can help with nosebleeds straight away by putting the person in the appropriate position and exerting pressure on the nose.  If basic things don't help, they can also pack the nose, monitor and control blood pressure, look for symptoms of major blood loss, and go over medications to see what might be causing the problem.

Our GP Home Care Services for Problems with the Ear, Nose, and Throat

Testing and treating sinusitis

When your sinus symptoms are making you feel terrible, our family doctors can help you at home. They will first do a full evaluation of your symptoms, including how long they've been going on, how severe they are, and how they affect your facial pain, nasal discharge, fever, or dental pain. They will also look at any previous sinus problems and treatments. A physical exam includes assessing the person's overall health, looking at their nasal passages, testing for soreness on their face, and checking their throat for post-nasal drip. For acute sinusitis, we give decongestants to help with swelling and drainage, pain relievers for headaches and pressure on the face, nasal corticosteroid sprays to help with inflammation, antibiotics if there is a bacterial infection or if the symptoms last a long time and are severe, and saline irrigation to clean the nose.

We give you step-by-step directions on how to take care of yourself at home, such as how to use steam inhalation, how much water to drink, how to rest and position yourself correctly, and when to obtain follow-up care. We send people who have chronic or recurrent sinusitis that doesn't respond to medicinal treatment, have severe symptoms that imply complications, or have structural abnormalities that are suspected to ENT specialists for CT scans, endoscopic exams, allergy tests, or even sinus surgery. We want to give good GP-level treatment for basic cases and make sure that experts get engaged immediately when cases are complicated or hard to treat.

How to Find Out if You Have Tonsillitis and Treat It

When your throat hurts and your tonsils are swollen, our GP doctor will come to you and take care of you. The doctor will search for redness, swelling, and white or yellow patches (exudate) on the throat and tonsils during the exam. They will also check for swelling and pain in the lymph nodes in the neck, search for fever and other indicators of a bacterial or viral infection, and look for evidence of a peritonsillar abscess or other disorders. We prescribe the proper antibiotics for bacterial tonsillitis and make sure the patient finishes the whole course of treatment to avoid issues like rheumatic fever. When someone has viral tonsillitis, we give them pain medicines for their throat pain, fever reducers when needed, throat lozenges or sprays for local relief, and tips on how to stay hydrated, eat soft foods, and drink cold drinks.

Tinnitus Evaluation and First Treatment

If you have ringing or buzzing in your ears that won't go away and it's making your life worse, our GPs will undertake a full initial evaluation to uncover treatable causes and give you the correct care or send you to a specialist. The evaluation includes a full history of the tinnitus characteristics, such as pitch, volume, whether it is persistent or intermittent, whether it occurs in one ear or both, when it starts and how long it lasts, any other symptoms like hearing loss, dizziness, or aural fullness, a review of medications that can cause hearing loss, a history of noise exposure, and how it affects daily life and sleep. A physical exam includes looking in the ears for wax accumulation, infection, or other issues, testing the blood pressure, completing a simple hearing test, and looking at the jaw and neck for TMJ or cervical issues.

How to Handle and Treat Nosebleeds

Our doctors take care of nosebleeds straight away, especially if they happen a lot or are really bad. They also check into what might be causing them. First, make sure the patient is sitting up straight and leaning a little bit forward. You can do this by pinching the soft area of the nose for 10 to 15 minutes, putting an ice pack on the bridge of the nose to constrict blood vessels, and if the bleeding doesn't stop, you can think about packing the nose with hemostatic materials. We check how bad the bleeding is and how much blood has been lost, take the person's blood pressure (high blood pressure can cause nosebleeds), go over their medications (especially blood thinners), look inside the nasal cavity when it's safe to do so to find the source of the bleeding, and look for signs of bleeding disorders if the person has had nosebleeds before.

When to Get Medical Help Right Away

Signs of Sinusitis That Need to Be Looked At Right Away

A GP can usually treat most sinus infections, but some symptoms need to be checked out by a doctor immediately away. Call us right away if you have a severe headache with a high fever, sudden changes in vision, swelling around the eyes that could mean orbital involvement, severe facial swelling or redness, mental confusion or altered consciousness, a stiff neck with a severe headache that could mean meningitis, or symptoms that are getting worse despite treatment. These could be indicators of serious issues that need immediate hospital care, like orbital cellulitis, meningitis, or a brain abscess.

Key Tonsillitis Cases

You should get medical help right away if you have tonsillitis and are having a lot of trouble breathing or swallowing, drooling because you can't swallow saliva, a muffled voice with visible swelling that suggests peritonsillar abscess, a high fever that isn't going down with medications, signs of dehydration from not being able to drink, severe pain that over-the-counter medications don't help, or swelling that seems to be getting worse quickly. These could mean that something is very wrong, such an abscess forming or a blockage in the airway.

When to call for help with a nosebleed

You can usually cure a nosebleed at home, but some need to see a doctor right away. Call us right away if you have a nosebleed that lasts longer than 20 to 30 minutes even with proper pressure, heavy bleeding that makes blood run down your throat even when you're sitting up and leaning forward, a nosebleed after a head injury, bleeding that makes it hard to breathe, a nosebleed in someone who is taking blood thinners and can't stop the bleeding, signs of significant blood loss like dizziness, weakness, or pale skin, or recurrent severe nosebleeds that happen multiple times per week.

How Our Doctors Come to You for ENT Care

Step 1: Get in touch straight away and look into the matter.

You can get in touch with our skilled clinical team 24/7, 365 days a yearif you have ENT symptoms that need medical treatment. If you need help right now, call our emergency line at 800 4 VESTA (24/7) or our hotline at 04 247 0800 (6 AM to 12 AM). If you want to talk to someone straight away, you can send a message using WhatsApp to +971 52 270 4729. If you need to schedule something that isn't urgent, you can also email info@vestacare.ae

Step 2: Fast Deployment of GP

We send a DHA-licensed general practitioner with knowledge in ENT examinations to your home right away, based on your symptoms and where you live. It takes our doctor 30 to 45 minutes to go to any section of Dubai. Our doctors recognize that ENT symptoms can be annoying and sensitive, so they come to your house to give you professional, loving care.

Step 3: A comprehensive check-up by a doctor

Your doctor gives you a full exam that is appropriate for your ENT issue. When someone has sinusitis, the doctor checks the nasal passages for swelling and discharge, checks the throat for post-nasal drip, and does a general examination for fever and other systemic symptoms. For tonsillitis, the doctor checks the throat for swelling, redness, and pus, the lymph nodes in the neck, the capacity to swallow, and the airway. If you have tinnitus, the doctor will look in your ears with an otoscope, check your hearing, take your blood pressure, and look for possible explanations. The doctor finds the cause of the nosebleed, evaluates the structure of the nose, takes the patient's blood pressure, and looks for any underlying diseases when it is safe. This detailed GP exam lets you make a correct diagnosis and choose the optimum level of care.

Step 4: Make plans for care and treatment

Your doctor will start therapy right away after an assessment, as long as it is something they can do. This involves delivering drugs to ease symptoms, prescription antibiotics for bacterial infections, giving advice for home care and prevention, making follow-up appointments as needed, and sending patients to ENT experts when needed. We fill all prescriptions online, and our pharmacy partners usually bring them to your door within one to two hours. We issue sick leave certificates for school or employment that are valid under our DHA license.

Step 5: Getting ongoing treatment and working with specialists

We also call you to check on your recovery and how you are responding to treatment. If your medications need to be changed, we make sure they are. If your condition is getting worse, we set up more GP visits. If you need more advanced care, we help you make appointments with specialists. You can also ask questions or voice concerns at any time.   For patients who need to see an ENT specialist, we stay in touch to make sure that the specialist's advice is in accordance with the care they are already getting from their GP. This manner, your care will be coordinated throughout your therapy. This is the greatest approach for our GPs and experts to work together with the least amount of trouble.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you help kids with these ear, nose, and throat issues?

Yes, of course. Our doctors have treated many kids with sinusitis, tonsillitis, tinnitus, and nosebleeds. Kids with ENT disorders often have distinct symptoms than adults. Our doctors are excellent at figuring out what's wrong with kids, treating them, and informing their families about it. When treating kids with tonsillitis, we carefully check to see if the cause is viral or bacterial and only give them antibiotics that are safe for kids when we need to. When treating a child's sinusitis, we give them the proper amount of medicine and keep an eye on how they are growing.

What can you do for tinnitus if there is no treatment?

We can't cure tinnitus, but our doctors can help you deal with it at first. We find and treat reversible sources of tinnitus, such as earwax buildup, ear infections, or side effects of medications. We assess and treat things like high blood pressure that might make tinnitus worse. We tell people about tinnitus, let them know that most of the time it doesn't signify they have a major ailment, and provide them tips on how to deal with it so it doesn't affect them as much. We can give you medicine if your tinnitus is making you anxious or keeping you from sleeping.

How can you tell if tonsillitis is caused by bacteria and needs antibiotics?

Our specialists can detect the difference between viral and bacterial tonsillitis by doing a clinical assessment. Bacterial tonsillitis, which is usually strep throat, makes your throat hurt a lot, gives you a high fever, makes your tonsils swell and have white exudate, and makes your neck lymph nodes swell and hurt. You don't have a cough or runny nose. Viral tonsillitis frequently causes a cough, runny nose, hoarseness, and conjunctivitis in addition to throat symptoms.

Can a doctor help with sinusitis without sending me to an ENT doctor?

Yes, our general practitioners with DHA licenses are fully qualified to diagnose and treat acute sinusitis and begin therapy for chronic sinusitis. Most of the time, seeing a GP will help with acute sinusitis. This includes decongestants, pain relievers, nasal corticosteroid sprays, and antibiotics if the infection is caused by bacteria. We provide full medical care, home care instruction, and follow-up to make sure everything is taken care of.
